Maybe you have already heard about our town, sure it might be both: bad things, but mostly good. So you are wondering what it could be in reality. The east part of Ukraine is called Donbass. Lugansk is a large industrial and cultural center of Ukraine and particularly of that area. One of the names that town used to have was "Voroshilovgrad", but after Ukraine has became independent country in 24th of August 1991, our town has got its present name- Lugansk. Lugansk is not very old city. It is only 206 years old. But this town has already done a lot for Ukraine in his young age. Lugansk enterprises manufacture locomotive, mining equipment, metal-cutting machines. From small village, Lugansk has grown up to big city and now has a population about 600 thousand people.
After visiting Lugasnk, people describe it as nice town with interesting traditions and very friendly, kind people. Despite beautiful women you will discover many new things, as everybody who coming here you will find what you are looking for. Walking in the streets of our city you will know many new places. Lugansk has it's local Music and Drama Theatre, a Puppet Theatre, a Philarmony, a circus, some museums, picture galleries and numerous libraries- one of the famous one is Library of Gorkiy. Lugansk consists of two part: old Lugansk where you can see many monuments of famous people (monument of Taras Shevchenko- Ukrainian writer- symbol of Ukraine and freedom, monuments of people who fought during the revolution and Second World War). Lugansk is the home city of many outstanding people. Vladimir Dahl, the author of "The Defining Dictionary of the Great Living Russian Language", a close friend of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, was born in Lugansk on Novem ber 22, 1801.
There are mane parks in the old part of Lugansk (for example Park of The 1st of May, and the Park of Taras Schevchenko). This park has different games for children, small lake, own zoo and a summer cinema. There you can enjoy a quite rest all time. The modern part of Lugansk is a center of this city. This part of city has a European design. There are different shops, offices, cafes, and disco clubs. You can choose for your mood. There is also a big center shop "Mediana", "Russia" in the modern part of Lugansk, where you can find everything, from fruits to cosmetics. You will be surprised but more new shops and cozy cafes was opened, and even ATM won't be a problem, you will find bank mashines everywhere around the town. Despite the fact that women from Donbass are the most beautiful, they are also very smart. So most of them have got education in such Universities in Lugansk as: Eastern-Ukrainian national University, Agricultural University, Medical University, Pedagogical University.
One American man was joking, that before he used to have 10 huge encyclopedia books, but now after marring Ukrainian girl, he throw them away, 'cause his wife is so smart, so he doesn't need them any more.
