Flowers and their meaning

A bouquet of flowers is one of the most common gifts in the world. We give flowers as a mark of gratitude to our beloved people, friends and relatives on any occasion or for no reason at all. Even a small bouquet brings the atmosphere of happiness, carries away tension, irritation and quarrels, giving the pleasure to the one presenting it and the person who gets it. My own experience proves that a man is rather conservative in his choice and mostly picks flowers of the same kind as once heard that a lady liked them. Of course, the amount of money in your pocket also matters, but even a single flower can express the fullness of your feelings. You probably remember the hero of Mikki Rurk that was clever enough to give his beloved woman a carnation at the right moment and as a result got her forgiveness and love. Once it was quite natural to divide all the flowers into two types- yellow ones (that symbolized treason) and other ones. You may ask me" What do you mean saying other ones?". So, it is high time to clear up the situation. The skill to compose flowers came to us from Orient, from the harems of Egypt and Persia where "selyam"-the language of flowers "was spoken" so well. And afterwards th e flower art became popular in the countries of Europe and especially in France.

In the middle ages knights and their ladies were using the "language of flowers" to express their feelings to each other. Of course, with time some "accents" appeared that brought a sufficient difference in symbols of flowers, but there is no need to discuss it in such details. I think it would be more interesting to know the meaning of colours and especially of colour schemes.. A Yellow colour symbolizes ,life, joy and wealth. Yellow flowers are usually given to those who amaze us with their wisdom. Bright Yellow flowers are presented when we accuse someone of unfaithfulness and lies. There is a legend telling that once Magomed came back from one of his wars and accused his wife of unfaithfulness. He gave her the bouquet of red roses but in the morning everyone saw that they changed the colour for yellow and it was the evidence of her fraud. A White colour is considered to be the colour of funerals in many eastern countries. As for the western ones, it is the colour of weddings that symbolizes innocence and tenderness. A black colour, vies versa, is the colour of sadness and mourning A Red colour means love, freedom, devotion, it symbolizes the flame of revolution. Violet means friendship, grandeur and nobility. Blue is the colour of devotion and anguish. Orange means pride, power and strength. Green is the colour of peace and fertility. Now let's see how the colours are combined with the type of flowers.

Of course, the list is far from being complete, and at the same time it is long enough to understand the symbolic meaning of some of the flowers we usually present each other. You see, the meaning of flowers is rather contradictory, so do not take the definitions too seriously. To say more, the meaning of the bouquet presented changed from one age to another, and for example, if a lady was holding a flower in a right hand she accepted the proposal and if in a left one, refused. And of course, the opportunity of defining the types of flowers for different horoscope signs cannot be missed. Here we go. Aries- a tulip as it is a sign symbolizing pride, gallantry and persistence. Taurus-lilac, which sophisticated taste, is in such a harmony with natural sensuality of the people born with this sign. Twins- a lily of valley for their merry and lively character. Cancer-water lily, the right flower for such a proud person; Leo- the king of jungles and his flower is a sunflower; Virgin- they are a little bit shy and that is why ox-eye daisy ( that can also be used for telling fortune) -Libra-azalia that matches their sophisticated taste. Scorpio-so passionate and sometimes even aggressive, give him an orchid, as wild as he is himself. Sagittarius-Iris that comes down his hot but noble temper, Capricorn- winter flower cyclamen. Pisces -with his nonconformist and creative character will be happy to get a violet as a present. Aquarius with his mystic intuition would be glad to get a pansy.

Also, mind the times of the day as it is better to present a mixed bouquet in the morning and one colour in the evening. If you want to invite someone for supper, give him a bouquet of flowers during a day, also it is a good tradition to give flowers to a lady while visiting a theatre or a restaurant, but not a disco or visiting her at home. Vases with long stem flowers must be on the floor, not on the table. Finally, do not take the language of flowers too seriously, feel free to play with your partner and of course, do not forget to tell him at least some rules of its game to avoid misunderstandings. Of course, from one hand, ladies are always ladies and the more flowers they get the better .One million of roses is just what makes them happy;)) and from the other hand one good Arabic saying claims;" It is better to have one flower a day than all of them at once". Now you are at a loss and do not know what to do? Simply listen to your heart and it will tell you whether to give your special lady a bunch of flowers or one. The flowers from you represent your love , care and attention, they make your girl happy and she will make you happy in return.
